Benna Iqbal is the Founder and Group Chief Executive of GI Corporation and also serves as the Chairman of the Board. He holds an executive degree from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BSc. in Computer Engineering from the American University of Sharjah.

At the age of fifteen, Benna started his life as an entrepreneur, building small software applications with the intention of gathering funds for a new venture of his. In 2008, he founded GI and brought together a small group of people to work on a product development and enterprise software services company that designed and implemented software products for small businesses.

The company evolved as a consulting and technology services firm and was involved in the execution of numerous product development projects in areas including manufacturing, retail and start-up ecosystems and later became known as GI Consulting.

Although Benna started off as a software entrepreneur, his passion always extended beyond it. He always believed that businesses have the power to change the society around us, improve and enrich the lives of people, and wanted to build a company that fosters innovation and understand the society and needs of the people.

With that vision, the company diversified to become a holding group and The GI Corporation was formed. GI Corporation, the parent holding company began acquiring stakes in some of the world's most innovative companies led by incredible people. The company has since then become a major private equity investor and manager. As of today, GI invests, owns and operates a portfolio of businesses in capital markets, aerospace technologies, infrastructure development, commercial & residential real estate, manufacturing and more. It continues to expand globally, extending its arms across the world in different industries.

The name GI, which uses an alternative spelling to 'Envision', means "to bring meaning to a picture in mind or imagine" and signifies the vision of building a company that envisioned to bring together creativity, meaning and imagination to solve problems of the world.

With its humble beginnings with an investment capital of $1000, GI today is one of the fastest organically growing investment companies in the world under his leadership with presence in four continents, a portfolio valued at over $100M and continues to extend its presence across the world.
